The UNWG Rome is a non-profit organization of people connected to the UN organizations in Rome.
We conduct activities of interest to our members, promote friendship and mutual understanding through cultural exchange and we assist women, children and vulnerable communities throughout the world through fundraising activities.
Since 1947, the UNWG of Rome has been attending to a diverse membership of women and men from all five continents. In addition, the UNWG of Rome responds to emergencies and natural disasters throughout the world. We advocate on behalf of UN-families and seek clarity of mutual rights and obligations within the UN system. With our dynamic range of voluntary activities, we also contribute to a lively and positive image of the UN in the local community in Rome.
Activities
Monthly Coffee Morning
Our coffee mornings, which were many, always came with “coffee and more” – they were not only enriching food wise, but also full of content. We mostly relied on our members’ wonderful resources: financial planners, life coaches, personal trainers, computer specialists – they all shared their knowledge with us.
Regional Cultural Groups

World Food Day Children's Poster Contest

This Poster Contest is held each year and children worldwide are invited to submit the posters that they create to illustrate the annual FAO World Food Day theme.
Newsletter
Our newsletter is delivered on a more or less - depending on the events - monthly basis to all members via email. Members are encouraged to contribute subjects that will interest the whole group or that target sub-group activities.
Social Media
In our closed "UNWG Rome"-Facebook group we share information about our activities, what is going on in Rome and anything else that is relevant to us as UNWG members. Participation is on voluntary basis. Members are encouraged to contribute subjects that will interest the whole group or that target sub-group activities. Needless to say that we will strictly follow the UNWG Personal Data Privacy Protection Policy. If you are interested to become a member, please send a friendship request to UNWG Rome FB.
WhatsApp
Our private WhatsApp group is used by the administrators to stay in touch with the UNWG Rome members anywhere and anytime. It is used to share urgent information and to remind incoming appointments and events.
Fundraising
The UNWG actively fundraises throughout the year with its program development earnings going directly to assist women, children and vulnerable communities throughout the world. We target initiatives that promote health, education, infrastructural improvements and income generating programs. All of our projects must engage in sustainable development and strive for self-sufficiency.
The major fundraising activity each year (usually on the last weekend of November) is the Annual International Bazaar, where we raise funds through selling exhibition space to third parties, the sale of arts and crafts from various countries and of a delicious variety of dishes typical of our countries, donated by our members and sponsors.
Donations also come from individuals, companies, Embassies and organizations and from people who attend our events.
We sincerely thank our generous donors, whose support is greatly appreciated.
There are many ways to contribute: you can donate and purchase items at the shop, sell raffle tickets, rent a table at our fundraisers, or become a sponsor who donates goods, money or services. The UNWG is deeply grateful to everyone who over the last 40+ years has given a helping hand, a warm smile and - lately - a "Like" on FB or a "Forward" of an e-mail call for a fundraiser.
Projects
Annually, the UNWG Rome funds carefully selected causes line in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
We focus on small-scale projects that have an important impact and that otherwise would be difficult to finance. We fund projects directly and monitor their progress.
Our members identify projects, often in their home countries, that meet our criteria for sustainability and significant impact in the areas of education, health and income economic development.
UNWG volunteers work to empower women and children and vulnerable communities around the globe. We also respond to emergencies.
